Just very, very busy. I’ve been prepping for a huge art show downtown all month, work’s been nuts, I had a cold for a good portion of April, and in between it seems like I’m always travelling somewhere. Thankfully, after next weekend, much of what’s keeping me busy will pass, so… Hopefully then, I can get back to this thing. Until then, CP’s on hiatus.
I hate that word.
I… think this is the end of chapter one. I *think.* I might change my mind.
Once I decide, I think I’m going to start trying to pimp this thing a little more…
There were moments when I thought the detail on cp64 would actually kill me. Just sayin’.
Mormon vs. Catholic vs. Whatever
by Arilus Cristatus on September 27th, 2011So, I settled on having them be mormon. Statistically speaking, they probably would be. And as little as I know about the religion, it gives me a good excuse to read up on it. I was thinking about having them be Catholic, and I might still go back and change that, later.
That said, I feel kind of bad doing this to the Mormon religion. They get enough of a bad rap as it is. I really don’t have anything more against them than I do against any other organized religion.
And I just couldn’t figure out a better way for Emily to explain why she, an athiest, would be relieved to meet a family of Mormons… I feel like I could’ve come up with a deeper, more illuminating line. Ah well….
It is teh emo.
That’s really all I have to say for it, other than that just about every conceivable horror happened to it while I was trying to paint it, from my cat stepping on it while it was drying and giving Corach a 5 o’clock shadow, to accidentally drawing and painting Corach with his vest on after he takes it off in the third panel. If I learned anything from this page, it was how to make corrections in watercolor (I ended up photoshopping this a lot less than I thought I was going to have to). Also, slapping creeping darkness on the right side of the page and calling it mood enhancement does not good composition make. I’ll remember that – next time. I’m done with this page.
